Working together,
for a Better West Hartford

We are a grassroots group of concerned West Hartford citizens who want to engage the town, its residents, local businesses and property developers to help set the direction of residential and commercial development.

Our goal is to avoid zoning changes driven solely by developers and to reset the zoning discussions toward a more comprehensive solution to growth opportunities in our town. We want to maintain the appealing look and feel of classic West Hartford Center, remain mindful of existing residential areas of our town, and allow for appropriate growth and thoughtful development that we and the next generation can enjoy.

WHY WE MUST ACT

In the past year there have been two major proposals put forth that would allow increased development in West Hartford Center and elsewhere in town. The Town Council rejected both proposals siting a need to engage in a dialogue with the community while also expressing the desire for future development in the Center.

Since West Hartford Center affects property values and quality of life everywhere in town, not just in the Center, we are all interested in this issue.  We think that town residents, the Town Council, merchants and developers should work together to address appropriate development and growth in our town.

GET INVOLVED

Thanks to overwhelming community support we were able to help persuade the Town Council to reject broad zoning amendments that would have had a significant effect on our neighborhoods.

We need your help again. Join us at Town Hall for a Community Forum on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:00 or 7:30 pm. This is our chance to engage in a productive discussion with the town and to help guide appropriate future development of the Center.

In preparation of the meeting the town has put together a short survey to gather some of your thoughts on the current and future state of the Center.
